I'm somewhat familar with the molecular basics of chemistry, but not so much the conversions. I'm stuck on this one:

5.850 gal/hr to L/s.

or...

2.998 x 10(to the 8th..don't know how to do exponents) m/s to km/hr?

So there's two conversions going on in each problem?

I have the answers in the back of my textbook, but I'm not sure how to get there.

Any help at all would be appreciated :) Thanks!

Use dimensional analysis. You can always multiply a number by 1, and get the same number, right? For example, in your second one, multiply by something that would help with your units, like km/(1000m). Since 1km = 1000m, 1km/(1000m) = 1, and you can multiply it by km/(1000m), and then your units will be in km/s instead of m/s. Does that make sense?

If there's more than one conversion going on, do one, then the other. So you could go m/s to km/s to km/hr.
